Lets Work From a Submarine!

Standard

I’m sitting here watching Gossip Girl and I am ADDICTED. I know I’m late to the show, but I’m so glad a friend of mine was obsessed and now I have caught on. Anyway, I ordered Dutch Bros K-Cups and I was finally going to try them today when I ran out of my favorite coffee creamer, hazelnut. I was super upset, but I guess I can survive another day without coffee. After I sat back down on my couch I thought about how I was beginning to lose my motivation for so many things. I mean, I have just began school and I’ve been swamped that I haven’t had a moment to myself to think and reflect. I used to always do this, whether I would go outside and read or take a walk. Then, I decided to create something for my own personal motivation.

So I wanted to dedicate this post to women that inspire me. Some of these women I have been following on Instagram for a long time or recently began to follow them. They also have blogs! They are either working the dream career I hope to land (psst Personal Stylist) or they are just women that are bubbly and motivate me to do better in life.

dream job

I will begin with the first row and first column then move across. (1, 2, 3, and so on)

1. @damselindior

I discovered her on Bloglovin, I think. I cannot remember, but I discovered her while roaming around fashion blogs. Not only does she talk about fashion and takes amazing pictures, she talks about life. She gives advice and insight from Valentine’s day to her favorite restaurants when she is traveling the world (jealous!!). She motivates me because she is doing what she loves. She is happy and is full of bliss. Apart from being a total fashion diva, simple and chic. I hope to meet her one day and have a fun photo shoot. I chose this specific picture because that is one of the hotels she stayed at. It was her view from her room and I hope to travel and have views like these, especially when it’s snowing!!

2. @tania_sarin

I am obsessed with Tania. She definitely motivates me with launching my own personal stylist business. She posts fun pictures with her and her clients while wearing amazing street style clothes. She has the dream job that I want to have in the near future and I admire her for her hard work and talent. I chose this picture from her because it is her dream closet, like mine! I dream to have an open closet where it showcases my clothes. It will be difficult since I have a shopping addiction. Oh well, what can a lady do. She has even launched her very own clothing line! Check it out here: tsarin.com

3. @carlibel or @thefashionbybel

I am pretty sure mostly everyone has heard of this beauty. She is so down to earth and she is definitely honest. Not afraid to be judged, but I mean who would?! She inspires me because of her confidence. On her YouTube channel, she talks about her personal experiences with difficult times she has had and how she overcame them. When you watch her videos, you don’t feel like she is a famous person or anything, just an ordinary friendly gal. I look up to her mostly in the fashion sense because she dresses amazing from head to toe. I chose this picture because she is posing in a classy car with a classy wardrobe. I hope to look successful like this in my G-Wagon.

4. @bowsandsequins

Jessica is someone new that I have recently discovered. She talks about fashion, food, and well life in general. I love the pictures she posts and she has very good recommendations with whatever it is you look for. Whether it is shoes you need for a date night or a healthy snack, she has it for you. I chose this photo because she was traveling at the moment and that is a dream that I have for the future. I want to travel the world.

5. @itsmyrayeraye

I love this girl. Not in a creepy way, maybe because I am obsessed, but definitely not creepy… right? Anyway, she is not only gorgeous, but she spills her secrets on how to achieve the perfect simple look. She is also down to earth and will reply back if you have a question or if you just simply comment on her posts/pictures. She is definitely my favorite one because of her humbleness and she will make you laugh! I chose this picture of her because she looks amazing. Also, I plan to lose weight (gahhh not this old resolution crap). Yes, I am one of those people, but I definitely need to lose something because I am going to Vegasssss! (If you have any suggestions or secrets to Vegas let me know!) Alright, enough Vegas for one night.

6. @caraloren

This lady right here is very inspirational to me in the fashion world. She posts on her blog every single day (have no idea how she does it) and she even tags at the bottom of her post where she bought each clothing item! I chose this picture of her because this is an outfit that I am hoping to pull off this spring. I love the green skirt and how simple it looks. Of course, she looks good in EVERYTHING. I am not lying, go see for yourself.

7. @nataliehalcro

This beauty is well, a beauty. I follow her because of the inspiration she gives me everyday to work out and have that dream body of hers. Also, she has such a chic style that is to die for (literally). She makes anything look good! I chose this picture of her because she is standing in front of my dream car, the G-Wagon. She looks sexy just standing there and well I hope to look like this when I become successful in my career. That haaaair. Oh gosh don’t even get me started. I want to achieve that beautiful bob.

8. @apartment_34

Erin is an apartment stylist. She uploads pictures of different ideas to style a simple apartment and make it look like a million bucks (did I just say bucks?). Since I live in an apartment, I want to make it look alive and she definitely has a vision for transformation! I chose this picture of her because I want to soon have a desk for my makeup/work area. Yeah, I don’t have that much makeup to begin with, but who knows maybe I will have two separate desks! (Ha!)

9. @sakuraconsidine

She is unbelievably amazing! I adore this lady for her hard work and achievements. Not only is she amazing at what she does, she lives in the same state as I do! So she understands how hot it is here, but not to fear. Since I have followed her, she has opened my eyes to many more restaurants that are not as popular as “McDonalds” and “Pei Wei”. Places like Joyride Taco House and The Upton are some of the many restaurants that are hidden. I say hidden because I had never heard of them, but I am so happy that I did. I chose this picture because she can work wherever she wants. I do not want to go to an office and work, unless I have a huge business being run and I will design it myself. That’s a whole other story. I want to work from home, the Eiffel Tower, or even from a submarine (actually that would be pretty awesome!)

There you have it! A few of the ladies that inspire me and remind me everyday as to why I am going to night school while working 40 or more hours per week. I know I will become somebody, 2015 you just wait and see.

Thank you to everyone who is reading and if you have any inspirational women that you follow, let me know so I can also discover them! Once again, follow me on Instagram and I will follow back! @jlizette

xoxo jojo ❤

When I Said I Was Not An MUA, I Meant It…

Standard

It is the second week of 2015 and it has been slower than the first. I have no idea why but I feel like this week is dragging along and making my life miserable. Then again, that is my view and I guess I could change the outlook on things. On a happier note, I am sitting on my couch (yes, the Craigslist one) with my love bug while he plays his video game. Have you ever tried or heard of Dutch Bros? Random question but if you haven’t tried it then unfollow me. I’m just playing. But seriously, if you haven’t gone by and tried any of their drinks you need to go right NOW! They have teas, coffees, oatmeal, well you get the point. If your question is if I am a sponsor for them, it’s no. I should be though because I drink this stuff like almost everyday. Well, I did but I had to tone it down because I was beginning to become addicted and cranky when I didn’t get “the good stuff”. Anyway, the employees are seriously the sweetest and most outgoing people you will ever meet. Try it out and let me know what you think! I am unsure on their locations around the globe so you would have to check out their website.

Alright, so the point of today’s post is to, well post my favorite lippies I am liking right now (post, post, post). I will post ladies that I recommend you check out another day but for today’s post it’ll be lipsticks that I have tried on myself and have actually liked because they made my lips look decent.

1. Sonia Kashuk – Spiced Berry #97. This was my first picture that I took when I was just getting into makeup. This was two months ago by the way haha.

SK Red Lips

I love Sonia Kashuk makeup. This makeup is sold at Target. This specific lipstick is called Spiced Berry #97. I fell in love with this brand because it’s cheap but it also works like any other expensive makeup brand, for the most part. I haven’t really invested my time to research this brand but I fell in love with her brushes and makeup. I plan to collect most of her lippies in the near future. Every product is beautiful.

2. NYX – Simply Vamp in Enamored SV 01

Vamp Lips

Man oh man, saying I am hooked is an understatement. I discovered this brand through some of my fav MUA’s. I literally would go shopping for this brand every weekend. Not only because it was cheap but because everything they have to offer. I fell in love from the very start and I cannot wait to try out the rest of the products. This lipstick is called Simply Vamp in Enamored SV 01. It stayed on all day and it looked great for the temporary Winter that we had here in Arizona.

3. NYX – Butter MLS21

Butter Lips

I became obsessed over this one. It is great for a simple look to go make errands or go to the park and walk your dog(if you have one, you can just pretend if you don’t). When I applied it, I was surprised because it was so smooth on my lips! By the way, NYX is sold at Ulta.

4. Essence – Satin Mauve #06

Essence Lips

Another brand that is also cheap but looks great! I really love how this lip liner lasts almost the whole day. I love it so much that I am almost out of it!

5. Rimmel London – Coffee Shimmer #264

Revlon Lips

This lipstick is definitely true to its name. It smells like coffee and it shimmers! This one is great for a night out with friends, your boyfriend, or self. If you’re by yourself then just call your (me) girl over and I’ll be there! That’s if you live in Arizona haha.

6. NYC Eyeliner #832 Bold Brown & NYX Eye/Brow Pencil #904 Light Brown

Brown lips

One day I decided to just mix up some colors and I was not disappointed by the combination. I really loved how it looked on my lips and they made my lips look fuller.

Brown lips2

Different lighting but love how the picture turned out.

Brown lips3

Same lipstick combination, different lighting.

Like my title says, I am not an MUA but I am beginning to enjoy makeup. I think it is beautiful how each and every MUA has their own style of applying makeup. I always love finding new ladies with their passion in makeup and I learn everyday. I also want to apologize for the different lightings and how the pictures were taken. I don’t have a camera yet, but hopefully soon I will.

I hope this was useful to you and I will post more pictures in the future. For now, if you want to be updated on my life (because I am that interesting) follow me on Instagram: jlizette. I will follow you back, promise.

Hope your week is going faster than mine and let me know if there are any brands out there that I should try! (:

– xoxo jojo ❤

P.S. – I received this as a Christmas present. The brushes are Sonia Kashuk holiday limited edition. The eyeshadows are Sephora.

Isn’t it a beautiful sight?! ❤

A New Chapter Filled With Adventure

Standard

I want to begin by saying Happy New Year’s! Thank you for the love and support since I have began my blog. Although I have not been very active (here it goes) I will do my very best this year.

I am sure everyone has heard those that are saying “New Year New Me” and the others that say “I’m tired of seeing ‘New Year New Me'”. Well, I am not tired of seeing people saying that this year they will do their best to become a better individual. Why are there people even saying they are tired of seeing them on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? Why should they be worried about other people’s life’s? If they failed this year or the year before well then let them. At least they plan to try.

We as the people should be supporting each other and not bringing each other down. I am not saying let there be world peace but I mean come on. I look at every single person that is on my friend’s list and I notice a repetition. Some become supportive of others and want others to succeed and become better. Then, the end of the year comes and they start to say they are “tired” of people saying they will try to succeed in the upcoming year.

Then again, there are two sides to every story. Maybe they had a friend that will not change and their post was directed for them but either way, stick to your word.

I apologize for sounding upset or anything. I guess I fall under the category of those posts that are annoying for blabbering away and “hating” on other people. If I do, well so be it. I am not here to hide my feelings and what I think.

Anyway, enough about that. I have exciting plans coming up for this new year. I can finally say what I will be majoring in which is Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Business and English. It sounds all cool but it’s actually not that different from a double major.

Sometimes, I think about how my friends will be graduating college before me. Then, I am grateful for everything that has happened to me this year. I feel as though I have learned so much about myself, those around me, and most importantly my mother and aunt. We have grown closer than ever before and I am truly blessed.

Plus, I get to go to my friends graduation and they can ALL come to mine. If you notice, most of the time I tend to see the positive in situations where I want to break down and cry. I know I don’t have a bad life or anything but I’m sure everyone has had those moments where they feel hopeless. I went through that phase and I am out! I’m free!

Many things happening in 2015 will change my life and I cannot express how excited I am. I have such a good feeling this year. I noticed how last year I did not care for what was to come because I was so focused on my relationship. Now, I have a very different mindset and plan to learn and grow. This post was more of a ‘hey, talk to me about life’ but I hope you have some comments about what I said or if there’s anything you feel like talking about. I want to add that I am a great listener/reader so I am here to help whether you’re a stranger or a friend. (:

Think about it: It’s a clean plate for anything happening in your personal life right now. Add great food to it throughout the year and cherish it at the end of the year.

Good luck to your chapter in your book this year and may blessings come your way. ❤

xoxo jojo ❤

Under the Christmas Tree

Standard

Holidays, holidays, holidays… where is the time?! From buying presents at the busy shopping malls to eating dinner at different houses (the positives when having a boyfriend during the holidays). I’ve barely been home since December started and for the next two weeks my boyfriend’s niece and nephew will be staying with us for their winter break. I’m super stoked to be a kid again and I know Broyce is excited to have someone to play with.

I wanted to dedicate today’s blog post about B-E-A-U-T-Y. Specifically, I’ll be writing about my addiction with lipsticks or “lippies”. Yes, my name is Joanna and I have an addiction. Ever since I started paying close attention to make up artists and the lipsticks they wear, I fell in love. I cannot stop buying them! I used to be addicted to Dutch Bros (they will need their own post because, well, because they do) and I now use those $5 to buy a lipstick from NYX instead. Okay, to be honest I still am addicted to Dutch Bros but not as much as I used to be because lipsticks have taken over my entire LIFE (and check).

Currently, I am dying over NYX, Essence, Rimmel, and Sonia Kashuk. WARNING! I am not an MUA or anything of that sort but I do make reviews for beauty products because everyone deserves the truth. I have made some reviews so far and have posted pictures on Instagram (username: jlizette). Stop by and say heeeeeey, how you doin’ (Joe’s voice from Friends).

Some of my posts will be short and sweet, just depends. Today’s will be short but I am including pictures of the lippies I have bought so far. I have focused more on winter colors or some that fit my skin. Also, I follow tons of beauty gurus on Instagram so, that is where I get my ideas from. The brands I also have been focusing on are Sonia Kashuk (found at Target), NYX (found at Ulta), Rimmel (found at Ulta), and Essence (found at Ulta). If any of you have recommendations of lippies let me know! I am always open to try new colors and go beyond my comfort zone.

Hope you guys like them and let me know what you think of them!!

Here they are all beautifully put together! ❤ (Sigh) Aren’t they beautiful?! Alright, well hopefully after all this holiday craziness I will have new additions. Also, in the next few days I will do my best to post more!

Introduction: Part Two

Standard

Hey everyone! I apologize for the delay with my second part of my introduction. I have been getting stumped by finals and it has been stressful. Just one more week and I’ll be done! 😀 Alright, so I am currently typing from my Craigslist couch while Broyce is chewing on his new bone that we bought him from Petco. He loves it and whenever I go near him, he picks up his bone and runs away. Can you believe that? The nerve of this kid!

Anyways, to continue with my part two, I want to begin with my goals and aspirations for my life.

Every year, every day, every hour is different from the last.

Experiences and even people can change a person in an instant. Lately, I have been going through some phases. First of all, I have figured out that fashion and writing are two things I love learning about and experiencing. I am a beginner with fashion so do not think I will be posting about Paris Fashion Week or what an actress wore (maybe a few times). I will be writing about finding your own style and how to be comfortable in your own skin. My goals are to graduate from ASU (I plan to return in the fall of 2015). Then, begin my own company of stylists and perhaps a clothing line. I want to be a personal stylist of either famous or ordinary people from around the globe. This way, I will be hitting two birds with one stone, as the saying goes. I love to travel (I will go into detail in a later post) and I will be styling people from around the world. Moving on.

I want to also have my own coffee shop (yaaassss). I LOVE coffee, say it with me. I LOVE COFFEE!! Okay, okay, I’ll calm down. So, I definitely want to open up my very own coffee shop here in Arizona. Then, if my coffee shop becomes a great hit, I will expand all around the world. While being a stylist and a coffee addict, I plan to create an outreach program for high school’s. I want to inspire people because the world isn’t what it seems. I am not saying I am an expert about life, at least not just yet. What I am trying to say is that I want to make high school students realize that it is okay entering college and not knowing what you will do with the rest of your life. Because no one knows.

After I have marked off these three goals, then I can lay back and relax. Well, I won’t relax because running two businesses and a program will be CAARAAAZYYYY. It’s okay though, because it will all be worth it. I know I will not hate waking up in the morning because I have to drive in traffic for 45 minutes and then work from nine to five. To some it doesn’t seem like a bad day but it does get tiring when you work hard in order to pay your bills and have nothing left in the end. It is not okay.

Enough ranting for one night.

As I go along, I will be posting blogs about fashion, college, makeup, and family in general. I will also throw in some life lessons from personal experiences. I want to make it clear to everyone that I am not an expert in the fashion and makeup fields. I am not a MUA or a fashion guru but I do have my own style which everyone will get a chance of seeing. I will post about recommendations and reviews about beauty products and clothes. If you do not realize by now, I love shopping. So, I will try my best to let you know about sales and other miscellaneous things relating to makeup and fashion.

One last thing before I go. Lately, I have been paying more attention to my surroundings for a reason. I have no idea why but I have this feeling inside me that good luck is coming my way. I was at a baby shower and I saw three little girls playing on a small, one foot brick wall (yes, there are one foot brick walls). A five year old girl was walking on it, putting one foot in front of the other. The other five year old was helping the three year old learn to walk but the three year old was having trouble. Then, the five year old became bored and let her go to play with the other five year old. I could tell the three year old was scared of falling but she seemed determined to master the skill of walking on a wall. After many times of falling, she finally learned to balance herself. After a while, she had mastered it! She smiled and from that moment I realized that was me.

Since I had started college, one downfall became ten major downfalls. I let  life defeat me. It had won. But I knew there was something telling me to keep going. To keep going and to begin living my dreams. My life was being run by money. That is when I came to the conclusion that I had to get my mind out of negativity and do what I please instead of pleasing others. Believe it or not, I changed my mindset on the same day I created my blog. So there you have it. Once again, welcome to my blog and an insight of my world. New adventures will be coming my way and don’t worry, you will be there too.

– xoxo jojo ❤

P.S. – I have attached a few more photos.

One of the many pictures I took when I went to Chicago. I fell in love and knew that is where I belonged but then again, that is how I feel when I travel to another city. ❤

It was such an amazing experience. I was able to go for free because I received a summer internship and the conference was held in Chicago. I also have friends that live there because of a few classes I took at U of A over my junior year of high school.

My aunt (left) and my mom (right). I love them will my entire heart and would do anything for them. I can be hard to handle sometimes but I know they are my true best friends that will be by my side no matter what.

This is my second family. Top row: Nancy (Vic’s sister), Vic, and then his mom. The bottom two munchkins are Vic’s nephew and niece, Alex and Amanda. I love them all with my whole heart. They always have welcomed me with open arms and they are seriously my second family. I am truly blessed to have met Victor and had my family grow by more kind people. ❤

Introduction: Part One

Image

Hey everyone! I wanted to make my first and ever blog post an introduction into my life. A little about myself: I am twenty years old, I live with my boyfriend and ten month old dog (or should I say pup), and I currently attend Mesa Community College. I have a full time job at a law firm in Scottsdale, Arizona and I am a legal assistant there. Right now, I am currently typing from my free couch that I found through Craigslist. It is a Friday night and I just finished watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Talk about #fbf (flash back Friday). Anyway, the reason I am typing in detail is because that is who I am. I like everything a certain way and I pay attention to detail. I want to be as descriptive as I can be in order for my readers to be able to close their eyes and imagine the world I see through my eyes.

I was attending Arizona State University (ASU) for two years, (GO DEVILS). Then, I was kicked out due to poor grades and personally no ambition. I went into college believing I wanted to be a lawyer so I could be rich and travel the world. I realized throughout my Spring semester of my sophomore year that I had wasted my time and money at a university. There was no way I was going to become a lawyer because I disliked the classes and they were boring to me. I had a hard time finding a major that best suited me and that led to me being disqualified from ASU. Now, I am at MCC and basically starting over with a $20,000 debt from the loans I had to take out.

Slowly, I am beginning to learn my likes and dislikes. I am realizing who I want to become.

Enough about college, I will give more insight on that later. I am an only child with divorced parents. I haven’t seen my dad in over a year, nor do I wish to see him (another story for a later day). Now, being in a household where my mother taught herself everything and so did my aunt was pretty tough for me. I had to be a straight A’s kind of girl and not depend on anyone. I mean sure it is great and all but when you tell your mom the news about being disqualified from a university, well, let’s just say it didn’t go well. Anyway, I let my mother and aunt down from their perspective but in my eyes I am beginning to bloom. I am taking off my layers and finding the real me. When I set my eyes on something or decide I want something, I go for it. No one or anything will get in my way. Maybe my boyfriend will but in a sweet kind of way.

I apologize for the long post but there is so much to say that I could keep typing and typing.

Great, now Broyce (my pup) has decided to start playing with the ornaments! Thank you once again for taking the time to read my post and hope to see you come back again for my part two of my introduction!

– xoxo jojo

P.S. – The following are a few photos of my little family. ❤

We met at a party through mutual friends. The both of us never thought we would end up together but here we are, passionately in love.

Broyce

He was my birthday present from Vic. He was the cutest thing and still is. I treat him as my child even though he is growing so fast. He will almost be one (in human years).
